Flowers out of jello?

jello flowers-web

Yes, these flowers are made of jello.  Aren’t they lovely?  I just learned how to make these Monday and plan on using them on cakes, etc.  Only thing edible is the floral wire and tape.   (PS don’t know how they taste)

You have been imagining your wedding day since you were a little girl, so before meeting with the cake designer you should do the following:

  1. Determine your wedding cake budget; don’t go to a consolation with a baker who charges more per serving than is in your budget, as it will be a waste of your and their time.
  2. Find out if the baker has extra charges, i.e.: delivery, set up, certain flowers, etc., as this may take it out of your budget.
  3. Have a good idea of what you want
    1. Color scheme
    2. Flowers
    3. Approximately how many guests you expect

Ever thought about designing your own bouquet?

Professionally done Wedding Flowers

Trust me, it’s best to leave it to the professionals. But if you’re looking for inspiration for your wedding day arrangement (or just to procrastinate for a couple of hours), visit Color of My Day, a website that allows you to create your own virtual bouquet.

There are a ton of flowers, accessories, and stem wraps to choose from and you can adjust the background color, too. When you’re happy with your design, show it to your florist to give him or her an idea of what you’re looking for.

Check out my creation (made of yellow and white Gerberas and Lilies, along with a bead wrapped stem) above! Think you can do better? Get creating at Color of My Day and let us know how it turns out

Need a rose bouquet?

Every Bride needs a lovely bouquet on her wedding day.  How about roses?  You may not have to look further than your garden (or a neighbors, if they are not looking).

I have no idea what kind of roses I planted, but sure would make a beautiful bouquet.

Make your garden grow faster with Jell-O!

Want your pants and flowers to thrive, but reluctant to use chemical fertilizers? Sprinkle powdered Jell-O mix on them instead!  Jello’s gelatin delivers nitrogen, which speeds sprouting and powers plant growth, while its sugar feeds microbes in the soil that produce fertilizing nutrients.

Giving your plants beer….

If you had your flowerbed disappear overnight thanks to slugs and snails, you know how hard they are to get rid of.  Easy solution? Get the slugs drunk (really!) Fill a saucer with beer, put it where the critters tend to invade and leave out overnight.  These pests are attracted to the scent and taste of beer and will jump in, get drunk and drown–leaving your flowers untouched.
